Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering program applies mathematics and of physics laws across various systems, including mechanics, fluid dynamics, energy and control. It covers everything from defining properties, designing and constructing, manufacturing and assembly, inspection, maintenance, damage assessment up to research and development. At MUT, the Mechanical Engineering program emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ensuring that students can apply their knowledge and skills effectively in the workplace, as well as develop high end machinery with efficiency.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The objectives of our ME program are to produce quality engineering graduates, who are ready to meet the rapidly changing and evolving complex global challenges. Equipped with professional engineering skills, advanced knowledge and familiarizing with the state-of-the-art technology, our graduates play a crucial role in the development of Thailand and the ASEAN countries. The following Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) have been established for the ME program which emphasize ongoing impact and performance in their professional careers.

PEO1  Proficiency and Professionalism: Graduates apply their strong technical proficiency and professional attitudes to effectively meet industry standards and contribute to engineering practices.

PEO2  Research and Innovation: Graduates engage in research and innovation to address industry challenges, advancing technology and contributing to societal progress while gaining real-world experience.

PEO3  Community Development and Sustainability: Graduates contribute to community development by promoting sustainable practices, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of life through engineering solutions.

These PEOs provide a balanced focus on industry readiness, research integration, lifelong learning, career advancement, sustainability, and social responsibility.

Student Outcomes (SOs)

The ME program at MUT is committed to preparing students for successful careers in the ever-evolving field of engineering with a comprehensive skill development, covering technical proficiency, ethical and professional responsibility, teamwork, leadership, experimental and analytical skills, and lifelong learning. To achieve this, the program has employed the following seven Student Outcomes (SOs) established by EAC ABET as globally recognized standards that prepare graduates to meet industry demands and excel in the engineering field.

SO1: An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.

SO2: An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.

SO3: An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

SO4: An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.

SO5: An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.

SO6: An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.

SO7: An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
