Mechatronics and Automation Engineering

The Mechatronics and Automation Engineering program integrates three key engineering disciplines: mechanical engineering, electronics engineering, and automation engineering, besides, computer science and information technology enabling students to design, analyze, build, and control machinery, processes, and automated production systems efficiently. Graduates are well-suited to collaborate with scientists from other fields and meet the demand for highly skilled professionals, driving the full implementation of Industry 5.0 (Human-Robot Co-working).

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The objectives of the Mechatronics and Automation Engineering program are to produce graduates who:

PEO1: Graduates apply and integrate multidisciplinary mechatronics and automation engineering skills to solve complex engineering problems that require critical thinking and professional project planning and management.

PEO2: Graduates pursues continuous self-improvement for professional advancement through systematic self-study and research.

PEO3: Graduates apply skills in communication, teamwork and leadership, to perform private and public services ethically and professionally.

Student Outcomes (SOs)

Mechatronics and Automation Engineering program adopts the following Student Outcomes:

SO1: An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics

SO2: An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors

SO3: An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences

SO4: An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts

SO5: An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives

SO6: An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions

SO7: An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies
